(We all know this) But do you know why there are strings of columns built at the ancient city in Egypt? This is because the stones that they used, are limestones. As we know that limestones are sedimentary rocks, they are strong when they are stacked ith each stones have the strata layers placed horizontally. Therefore they need a lot of columns to support the roof.








Another example will be Greece.. The ancient greek cities, they are rich in sculptures, long slender columns but their roof are more triangular shape or rectangle. These are possible because Greek countries are rich with marbles which are metarmophic rocks, stronger rocks than sedimentary rocks.
